The paper industry (pulp) is based on the processing of wood, mainly Eucalyptus (in Portugal).

The processes of obtaining pulp are diverse, and can be reduced to mechanical, thermomechanical, semi-chemical and chemical.

In the case of the mechanical process, the wood is reduced to a fibrous pulp by the use of rotating rollers with a highly abrasive surface. 

The wood is previously peeled and processed into chips or shavings to facilitate the remaining process steps.

In this step, tools such as blades, rollers and rings are used.
